Your first taste of the wild arrives at Chem Chem Lodge, a sanctuary set amid a palm-dooted oasis within the exclusive-use Burunge Wildlife Management Area. This is the home of the Slow Safari — a place where the pace is yours to set and every experience is shaped by the rhythms of the land around you.

The people of this land are as much a part of the story as the wildlife. Today, step beyond the lodge and into their world — walk or run through the bush alongside a Maasai warrior, or visit a local village to glimpse a way of life shaped entirely by this landscape. As the day winds down, sundowners on the edge of Lake Manyara await.

The morning is yours — sip a steaming cup of coffee to the sound of birdsong as the sun begins to rise, linger over a bush breakfast beneath the branches of a baobab, take to the pool, or let our therapists’ deft hands work the tension from your body. Your journey moves north to the Lamai Wedge, where Nyasi sits in quiet seclusion a stone’s throw from the banks of the Mara River. Canvas walls, crackling campfires, and the sounds of the northern Serengeti that surround you — this is your base for one of nature's most untamed spectacles.

Dawn breaks early and the plains come alive as the sun climbs the sky. Set out with your private guide and vehicle in search of the herds and the predators that shadow them — between July and October, word of a crossing can arrive at any moment. The Serengeti rewards those who stay ready.

Your final day in the northern Serengeti unfolds at your pace — a morning meandering the plains with your guide, a picnic lunch on the banks of the Mara, and sundowners as the light softens over the savannah. With nature’s chorus around you, sleep comes easily.

Perched atop ancient granite outcrops and gazing out over the Arugusinyai River gorge, Mwiba Lodge stands sentinel over the landscape. Arrive, settle in, and head out for an afternoon game drive — the Greater Mwiba Protected Wildlife Area revealing itself in its full glory as the sun goes down.

Mwiba's exclusive-use wilderness opens up before you — game drives, night drives, and the rare privilege of foraging alongside the Hadzabe or visiting a Datoga village. Back at the lodge, the infinity pool and boulder-tucked jacuzzi offer space for relaxation, the wilderness spilling out below.
