In Tanzania, no two landscapes are exactly alike. Mountain ranges and escarpments, winding rivers and great lakes, distinct vegetation zones, and the seasonal movement of wildlife give each region its own ecological character. From the Serengeti’s iconic savannas to granite outcrops overlooking swathes of African woodland, each Auberge Safari property is intentionally set within a habitat chosen for its biodiversity, conservation value, and proximity to key wildlife areas, including migratory routes, water sources, breeding grounds, and wildlife corridors that are vital for long-term survival.

  • Wildlife

Wildlife sightings shift with the seasons and include elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, zebra, a range of antelope species, and over 360 bird species, including numerous raptors and vultures. Big cats — lions, leopards, and cheetahs are also present.

The Greater Mwiba Protected Wildlife Area is a year-round destination, but the Great Migration’s calving season from mid-January to March is a defining highlight. During this time, up to 400,000 wildebeest calves are born — marking the start of a new migration cycle. Predators, especially large cats, are typically highly active at this time, drawn by the sheer abundance of prey.
